Elizabeth J Kennedy, FASLA, RLA, is a Design Trust for Public Space Research Fellow, the ASLANY President’s 2021 Awardee for Service and Leadership, the current chair of ASLA Council of Fellows, and the 2022 recipient of the Landscape Architecture Foundation Medal. The medal honors a career of distinguished work in landscape sustainability, intersecting cultural heritage and ecology in socially just ways. She heads EKLA, founded in 1994. Under her leadership, EKLA translates complex narratives into grounded, site-specific design solutions that confront systemic social biases and exemplify landscape architecture’s potential to engage a broader critical understanding of place and identity.
