Thomas Aujero Small became Mayor in 2017, the year that Amazon Studios and Apple TV+ broke ground on their new studio headquarters in Culver City. Culver City had already been the “Heart of Screenland” on the westside of Los Angeles for more than a century. Welcoming the world’s largest entertainment and technology corporations vastly accelerated the city’s ongoing renaissance. These massive economic and cultural forces propelled Culver City (and Mayor Small) onto a global stage. His new book Music and Architecture in Harmony, written with Michael Webb, will be published in September.
