Maggie Hansen is an Associate Professor at the University of Texas at Austin, where her research and teaching explore landscape architecture as a practice of tending cultural and ecological relationships. Previously, Maggie served as director of Tulane’s Small Center for Collaborative Design and co-authored the book, SMALLx20: Twenty Years of Community Engaged Design in New Orleans, which illustrates the Center’s approach to design in support of community needs. Her current work promotes youth-identified environmental priorities in the Rio Grande Valley, and has received the SOM Foundation’s 2025 Research Award and is a part of Monument Lab Re:Generation’s 2026 cohort.
