Landscape architects are leaders in healing land, water, and community by restoring native landscapes and habitats as refuges for people and wildlife. They recognize communities as places of value and significance, advancing ecosystems to capture and reuse precious urban stormwater runoff in drought-stricken areas across the United States and globally.

Learning Outcomes:

• Examine how equity-based, data-driven park planning, including needs assessments and master plans, supports and guides the implementation of park projects.master plans, supports and guides the implementation of park projects.
• Learn how localized water reuse systems contribute to regional water security, drought adaptation, and sustainable urban infrastructure through integrated planning and coordinated partnerships strategies among County departments.
• Examine how the team utilized captured stormwater and urban runoff from the regional watershed to sustainably create recreational lakes to improve water quality and promote water resilience for the park.
• Explore the processes used by the team to create Southern California landscape expression within a brownfield site including bio infiltration, remediation, and integration of biodiversity principles to support ecosystem resilience.
