SUN-A06: No Bad Questions: How Three Practices Shape Cultures of Learning

Emerging professionals have a lot to learn, as landscape architects broaden their toolkits and focus areas. Three panelists reflect on opportunities, challenges, and lessons learned while implementing skill-building and development initiatives within their firms. How and where can individuals, peers, and leaders foster “cultures of learning” within and outside of projects?

Learning Outcomes:

  • Learn about designer learning initiatives currently being organized in three firms. Get familiar with key objectives, successes, obstacles, and opportunities within each of these studios.
  • Compare these interventions as the panelists discuss how their approaches converge and diverge, and shares a preliminary ‘toolkit’ of potential training interventions that any firm could consider implementing.
  • Consider broader industry-wide contexts and challenges and assess how and where strong “cultures of learning” can realistically emerge within practice.
  • Leave with an understanding of how you might catalyze a more robust and meaningful culture of learning at your firm, in big or small ways.
