COVID-19 and the ASLA 2020 Conference on Landscape Architecture FAQs

COVID-19 and the 2020 ASLA Conference on Landscape Architecture
Updated: 5/5/2020

ASLA’s staff and leadership look forward to welcoming you at the 2020 Conference on Landscape Architecture in October.

We know that you will have questions about the potential impact of COVID-19 on the conference. To help you plan to attend, we will update information and post at this site or in special announcements if there are changes. If you have questions that are not addressed here or on the conference website, please contact Kelli Bland.

Registration is open.
Yes. Go to 2020 ASLA Conference on Landscape Architecture

Is there any chance the conference will be canceled?
We are doing all we can to ensure that the conference will go forward while adhering to federal, state and city guidelines. We have a contingency plan and will advise everyone in advance if it is not possible to hold the conference as scheduled.

If the conference is canceled, what about refunds for conference registration?
If ASLA is forced to cancel the conference, registration, processing fee, and special-event tickets will be fully refunded.

If COVID-19 is still active but we have the meeting, what are ASLA’s plans to protect attendees?
ASLA will follow the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), state, and local governments, regarding group size restrictions and other health precautions.

If the conference proceeds and I am not comfortable attending large gatherings and cancel, may I cancel my conference registration? What will the cost be to me?
Yes, you may cancel your conference registration by August 10, to receive a refund minus the $100 processing fee. Tickets for special events and field sessions are non-refundable in this circumstance. If you cancel your conference registration, please follow the guidelines for hotel cancellations, too. Your hotel deposit will be refunded if canceled 3 days prior to your arrival date, (see hotel reservation information).

If the conference is canceled, might there be a virtual event?
Currently it is impossible for ASLA to produce the entire conference virtually. However, some education sessions may be made available virtually later in the year. We will continue to assess the situation and proceed accordingly.
