Elisa Read Pappaterra, RLA, ASLA, is a California-licensed landscape architect and founder of studio pappaterra, a women-owned design studio rooted in Pasadena. As an Eaton Fire evacuee, her commitment to Firewise design is both professional and lived. Her work centers on the Wildland-Urban Interface, ecological resilience, and botanically driven landscapes. She holds a B.A. from UNPHU and a Master in Metropolitan Research and Design from SCI-Arc. Since 2020, she has led Firewise research and outreach, serving as project lead on DefensibleSpace.org with RCDSMM and CAL FIRE, and leading development of the Wildfire Resilient Garden Guide for Southern California with RCDSMM.
