Kelly Homan is an Assistant Professor of Environmental Design in Auburn University’s School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture, where she teaches foundational studios and leads the Ecologies Unit. Her research centers on landscape-scale conservation design, species urbanism, and documenting Alabama’s grassland communities. She integrates ecological resilience with creative practice to advance sustainable strategies that support multispecies coexistence. Dedicated to design education, she positions design as a tool for addressing complex challenges. Recently, she collaborated with the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources on the 2025 State Wildlife Action Plan, helping lead Alabama’s first comprehensive wildlife corridor planning initiative.
