José de Jesús Leal Loera is a truth teller and Landscape Architect who considers laughter good medicine. His professional journey has always been spiritual in nature—guided by the understanding that he is still a student with a deep passion for learning. As Co-Founder and Director of MIG’s Native Nation Building Studio, his work focuses on the power of co-creation that is culturally sensitive. For José, supporting Indigenous community self-determination and capacity building are critical goals. José uses landscape architecture to uncover, explore, and reflect on hidden truths and stories that can lead to healing, restoration, and a better path forward.
