Dr. Gaylan Williams serves as the Deputy Commissioner of Planning and Design at Atlanta's Department of Parks and Recreation. Williams, a landscape architect, arborist, and LEED® AP, prioritizes creating blue-green infrastructure, emphasizing stormwater management and urban forestry in urban spaces, which helps build resilient communities. Williams holds a master’s degree in urban design and a PhD in urban forestry. His work and research focus on using landscape performance metrics to ensure public spaces are safe, sustainable, resilient, and accessible. He is committed to enhancing and growing Atlanta’s parks and green spaces.
