Hansel Bauman is the founding principal of Hansel Bauman architecture+planning. From 2006 to 2019 he was the campus architect and co-director of the DeafSpace Project at Gallaudet University developing the DeafSpace design guidelines for buildings made by and for deaf users—for which he received the 2015 International Association of Universal Design, Gold Award. He lectures internationally with work featured at the Copper Hewitt Museum, New York and the Museum für Gestaltung, Zürich, Switzerland and in major design publications. He advised the US Green Building Council on new LEED Pilot Credits for Inclusive Design.
