SUN-A06: No Bad Questions: How Three Practices Shape Cultures of Learning

Emerging professionals have a lot to learn, as landscape architects broaden their toolkits and focus areas. Three panelists reflect on opportunities, challenges, and lessons learned while implementing skill-building and development initiatives within their firms. How and where can individuals, peers, and leaders foster “cultures of learning” within and outside of projects?

Learning Outcomes:

  • Learn about three models of internal education in practice and understand their benefits, drawbacks, and impact on firm culture.
  • Examine the results of internally conducted surveys as a reflection exercise and feedback on the successes and shortcomings of the three educational approaches.
  • Use interactive tools to share a robust Q&A process and generate feedback on other models, programs, or initiatives in other offices.
  • Be able to identify first steps in developing internal education, where there is none; identify opportunities and challenges in ongoing professional development and training processes, where existing.
