FRI-B06: Envision Platinum: Circular and Sustainable Approaches at the Battery

Ambitions toward sustainability can be compromised through the stages of a project. Hear about a project that achieved Envision Platinum due to a convergence of client, design, and construction team alignment on sustainability goals. Gain insight into what worked and what didn’t, and lessons learned along the way.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Be able to incorporate multiple ways to consider reducing embodied carbon in large landscape architecture projects. Learn about new materials and methods, opportunities, and risks involved in sustainable design.
  • Learn about the Envision Framework as a relevant standard for sustainable landscape design. Gain familiarity with tools of sustainable design like carbon calculation, Life Cycle Analysis, Environmental Product Declarations, and spec writing.
  • Learn how to structure a team and workflow to integrate sustainability thinking at each phase to deliver on sustainable design.
  • Delve into the policy side of sustainable design. Understand how the City of New York approaches large-scale resilience planning alongside ambitious sustainability targets, as a model for other cities.
