Commitment to Carbon Offsets
ASLA’s 2030 Vision commits the organization to cut its carbon footprint for the association’s annual conference by 50 percent by 2030, and to net zero by 2040. ASLA’s organizational partners, product suppliers, and venues play an important role in this effort. Together we work to ensure that all print materials, signage, decorations and equipment are recycled and/or recyclable, and that almost all handouts are distributed electronically. In a new effort in support of our commitment to sustainability, ASLA will not have a printed conference brochure on site. Instead, you’ll find everything you need on our conference App, coming soon.
The City of San Francisco has been groundbreaking in its push for Sustainable practices, and the Moscone Center has served as a shining example of this commitment to the Environment. The intent of sustainable programs is to promote and support operational and business practices which lessen adverse environmental impact, benefit the local community, and make economic sense. The success achieved at the Moscone Center is due to the close collaboration of numerous players including ASM Global staff, the City and County of San Francisco, show management, general and exhibitor appointed contractors, attendees, exhibitors, the Public Utilities Commission, and the ten labor unions represented at the Moscone Center. All sustainability programs are an extension of their efforts. Learn more about the Moscone Center’s efforts toward sustainability.
The hotels chosen as official hotels were selected in part because of their commitment and accolades for their sustainability efforts. Separately, one of ASLA’s most valued contributions to sustainability is that of our exhibitors. At the close of the conference, exhibitors donate booth products toward the ASLA / Northern California Chapter Legacy Project benefiting the San Francisco community.
